Wii Fit

For those with the Wii Fit, don't you feel as if they missed the boat completely by not including some sort of workout regiment based on your BMI, goals etc? They spend so much time setting up all your data, and what you want to; how much weight to lose, by when etc etc, but then do nothing with it. There is no regiment laid out for you like "20mins a day doing XYZ exercises and 1 day rest.... followed by ABC exercises" etc etc

They just ask you all the questions then let you play games. While I realize the Fit is not the ideal way to get in shape and exercise, it seems like they took all the steps to get you into "the gym" then gave you no direction on what to do once you are in there.

I don't really plan to use as such. I enjoy the games for entertainment and the decent workout they give me, but it just seems that it could have been A LOT more with a lot more direction

Would have been nice if they gave you that option, "Hey we have this workout tailored for you today"

However, I doubt I would have ever used it, I can't do a lot of things like the rowing squat or the lunges due to bad knees.

The ability to turn off the trainer jabbering on about nothing and queuing up your workout right at the beginning so you never have to hit the A button would have been nice though

Well see they could even take that a step further and say "are there any injuries/ailments you have that prevent you from doing certain movements?"

And definitely agree with the blabbering trainer too. I wish they would have installed some form of "game mode" where you could bounce between people/Miis quickly so it could be played as a "game" more than a "work out" The kids LOVE some of the balance games, but its a chore to jump from person to person.

I"m gonna hit up all the targets tomorrow in hopes of finding a dozen or two.

they get truck on tues, fri and Sun.

That's the WHOLE point of my thread. Re-read it. It could be used more of a training tool and it certainly is what they intended to be. Its not designed to be a straight game from the ground up, as both JoeMonkey and I pointed out they make you jump through lots of training screens before you can play any game.

There's no question in its design that it is supposed to be a tool to help even the laziest of coach potatoes to get up and do SOMETHING physically exerting. Which it does. But it does it with little to no direction for the person.

I went to my local Best Buy yesterday morning and managed to score a Wii Fit. There was a big line outside, but I showed up as they were opening the doors and still got one. Some people waited in line for an hour or two in the rain. I waited in line for about 5 minutes in the store. Couldn't believe it. They had a ton of them, and a bunch of Wii systems as well.

R NIlla, was it a 1 per customer type thing?

BB was the only store who advertised them, they were hoarding them for father's day, obviously. Target doesn't care and my target is usually empty.

one target had a nerdy girl who let me buy 8 of them (and looked obviously stunned by my beauty) another had a b*tch who doesn't know how to mind her own business.

"dis hare iz a wii thang, it be 1 pa cuztoma!!!"

Or they just figured "Another closeted gay guy buying a Wii Fit"

They must have thought he was really gay if he was buying 8 of them...

I don't know for sure, I was only there to buy one. When we got to the front of the line they were just sitting on a table, so I could have grabbed a bunch, but I don't know if they would have stopped me at the line or the checkout if I did. Everyone else only took one.

I saw a few of them at gamestop on release day but I was going on vacation that day and decided I'd just get after I came back. Haven't seen one since. I did see Wiis in stock at Target last week for the first time ever.

anyone have luck finding wiifits in stores?

Local BB had a boatload of them.

Gf picked up 2 last Thursday at Toys R Us. They had over 30 of them when she goy them, but they were all gone when a friend of mine went the next morning. The key is to find out when they expect the next shipment.

Go do lunges on it until you can no longer stand, and then come back to me if you think Wii Fit isnt intended to get you in shape. Surely its not going to prevent you from shoving 5 tacos down your throat afterwards, and BMI is indeed useless, and they certainly could have done a lot more to create actual regimens, but the workouts are absolutely legit.

Lunges don't get you into shape. Hell, it barely makes you lose weight. its for people who are already fairly in shape, but want to keep in shape inside their home. The WiiFit is NOT a substitute for a good workout done at a decent gym.

20 minutes of jogging plus lunges/jackknifes/planks/pushups/and some yoga stretching= kick ass workout.

ANd this from a guy who plays ice hockey and road bikes 50 miles every week.

I suppose when youre doing lunges and other strength training at the gym, theyre magically more effective or something? Is there something in the air at the gym? I always thought it had more to do with the load and strain youre putting on your muscles, but damn, if only I had known the gym itself was going to make me stronger, I'd just go there and soak all the fitness right in.

But in all seriousness, theres a million different ways to get in shape. You can burn fat by running outside, running on a treadmill, or running in place. You can build muscle by using machines, weights or your own body weight. None of this should shock anyone.

Regardless of what you think, theres been more than enough personal trainers that have positively reviewed wii fit on the internet to pretty much invalidate your opinion. Certainly, some parts are more of a workout than others. If you dont like it, dont use it. But pretending as if there is something inherently wrong with a home workout, however its done, just makes you sound a little silly.

It's pretty obvious that they left that feature out because they didn't want massively obese people to start calling them, posting on the internet, etc... "hey I did what my WiiFit told me to do, but I'm still massively obese! I want my money back! This thing is a POS!"
