exactly, simple gestures can not only act the role of a single button, but even a complex combination of buttons.

slashing up and to the left with a sword would require pressing a button and directing an analog stick in that direction, whereas with the wii controller all you'd have to do is flick your wrist in that direction. Not only is it easier to do because it reduces the steps required to perform the funciton, it is easier because the steps are far more intuitive
