WIFI security camera

I'm looking a for an Outdoor wifi security camera. It doesn't have to be super high quality. Just enough to view the lights on a control panel from 3-4 feet away in both day and night.

This is the only thing I've found that seems ok:

Go with the logitech Alert system. I have one and it works fantastically.

Two reviewers on amazon don't like its wireless. One guy had problems with it and a comment to his says "We have 13 of these 211w cameras. I have been going back and forth with Axis ever since we bought them over poor wireless performance. "

BTW, it's a $700 camera!!

The quality of these things amaze me. I've looked at the demonstration images of $100-300 IP cameras and AT BEST they are no better than a sub $100-webcam I bought around a decade ago. Can network connectivity really be that expensive? I was at Staples yesterday and they have a half dozen HD-quality video webcams for $50-80, but when you get an IP camera suddenly they want us to tolerate not only 640X480, but more to the point incredibly BAD 640X480 images.
