Wifi range extenders?

Ok heres my wifi setup

i have a 802.11b router in my basement which is connected to my voip phone and pc.
on the next floor i have nothing connected to the wifi...
then on the floor 2nd floor i have 3pc's connected.

the signal strength on the top floor is pretty bad (below 35%)...
i was looking into range extender... possibly putting it on the first floor to help push the signal to the top floor.

can someone gimme some suggestions on what to get? i have a dlink router btw.

you can buy a wireless access point and set it on repeater mode. it essentially acts as a wireless extender.

edit: i'm not sure if repeater mode works with router and wireless access point. i know it works with 2 wireless access points though.
