I've got a Speedstream 1022 client USB adaptor, and have used it with a SpeedStream 2624 router, and am now using it with a D-link 614+ router and D-Link 900AP+ repeater. After not using the wifi connection for a number of hours (ex. overnight), the connection is dropped, and I am unable to reconnect w/o restarting the router and messin w/ the computer. Does anyone know how I can fix this, and if my USB adaptor is the culprit?

does windows have it set to turn off that device to conserve power? I've seen that be the culprit, sometimes windows won't turn it back on.

One other quick note. My connection and link quality are both above 80% (reason I got the repeater), so that's not it.

GAH!!! Now it isn't even just overnight, it's dropping it often!!! Anyone know of anything besides bad link quality that may cause a signal to drop every now and then for no apparent reason? Possibly to do w/ the SpeedStream 1022?

I had this problem with two different Siemens USB adapters, on two different computers. Never again, Siemens!

My advice is to dump the Siemens hardware completely.

Good luck!

I want to, lol. But College soon, so I'm on a tight budget. I've been looking at some of D-links wifi adaptors (sure, their 22 mbps may not really be that fast, but it's transfer speeds have been proven to be like a meg faster). That's still a last resort though. I'm still looking for ways to stabilize the connection w/ the SS 1022.

Doh!

I have the speedstream 2624 & it hasn't failed me yet. It replaced a dlink router which replaced a linksys.
