WiFi capabilities

I have been thinking about getting a wifi capable phone or cell phone that I can use when I travel (fly). I have read that the PSP 2000/3000 has wifi or Skype functionality but haven't heard anyone that uses it for that. Also, I've heard that the new NDSi also has that capability, again don't know anyone that has one. And I just read that if you have a IPod Touch 2d generation model, there is a software program you can load on it and use with a earbud/mic combo to have a wifi phone capability. Have any of you folks had experience with any of this 3 possibilities? It would be pretty useful to be able to have a low cost/ no cost way to talk during airline travel in the airports, etc and maybe plays some games or music while you wait. I appreciate feedback from you guys or gals.
 
I know the PSP and the iPod Touch both have applications such as Skype which allow you to place calls when on an wifi network.
 
I'd go the iPod Touch route. The Skype software for the PSP is picky, and the WiFi abilities are even pickier. The iPod will get along with 802.11g networks much easier than the PSP will, and that can be of great value in and of itself.

my kids have both the psp and the itouch, the itouch was definitely easier to set up and keep on networks. i still fart around on the wifi on the psp tho, its pretty fun. not as easy to get around on lots of pages tho, thats the benefit of the touch interface.
 
You are aware that there are actual *phones* you can get with wifi and Skype, right? None of the products you mentioned are phones.
