Hey Group
Ok, heres my problem. I am working on a friends computer which is on my kitchen table and I am trying to use my DSL's WIFI so I could upgrade some things for him.

So far I have installed my NETGEAR USB wifi software and I even have the NETGEAR icon on my taskbar however I still cannot connect to the web because
the other icon that is located in the taskbar, the icon with the picture of two monitors showing the signal strenth

well, it says this:

WIFI connection (2WIRE444)
SPEED 54mps
SIGNAL STRENGTH excellent
STATUS: limited or no connectivity

and of course this is the one that is the problem STATUS: limited or no connectivity

what do I have to change in WinXP to get this working ?? TIA

Do you have WEP/WPA turned on? Or any filters in the router? (i.e., MAC, IP)

Well your friend Network is not configured correctly and thud there is No connection.

P** of would not help, going over the Network settings might.

Also, make sure that the firewall does not block your range of IPs.

Wireless issues.

My New Wireless does not work - http://www.ezlan.net/wireless.html

Wireless, Basic Configuration - http://www.ezlan.net/Wireless_Config.html

In General you can debug the Network Setting of the computer following these steps.

Step One. Check the Network parameters in the Computer?s Device Manager. Make sure that the drivers are installed correctly; there is No IRQ conflict, and No Ghost installation. http://www.ezlan.net/faq#ghost

Step Two.Verify Basic network setting in the OS: http://www.ezlan.net/Installing#verify
If the above two Steps indicates that every thing looks good but functionally it does not work.

Step Three. Check (and repair if necessary) the Socket Layers, Winsock, and or refresh the TCP/IP Stack. http://www.ezlan.net/clean#refreshnet

you typed your key in wrong, and it gets no IP address...

Limited or no connectivity means it failed to get a DHCP address. This is because the ROUTER does not understand your DHCP REQUEST packet, because it's using a different encryption key, and when it decodes it (using the other key) it's gibberish.
