Im pretty new to wifi networks, all your ideas are valuable :)

[i have internet connection to my main pc through a wired 4port LAN router ]

I'm looking for a cheap wifi adapter to be used for following (range is not that important, i'll use it inside the room and v closer. speed wise 54mbps seems enough too):

~ network with a mobile phone (Nokia) for file transfer and to surf internet through the phone

~ network with a laptop for file transfer and to surf internet through the laptop

1. so a normal cheap adapter is enough, right ?

2. are all adapters can be used as virtual AP with softwares ?

3. is there any plus point getting a PCI (not PCI exp) wifi card over a USB adapter (with external anternna connector) or vice versa ?

4. is any of below are not upto the job ?

or

(no newegg or etc for me as im from srilanka. have to do with this )

Thanks, all the help is highly regarded.

Any reason why you don't just want to buy a wireless router, and connect to everything wirelessly (or leave the PC wired, and use laptop / etc. wireless)? It seems like it would be a much easier solution.

Maybe I'm out of the loop, but I haven't heard of mobile phones connecting to home / office networks. I thought they were limited to cell tower connectivity (IE buy a data plan, use bluetooth or USB to "network" to PCs, etc.)

They are Not worthless, but given your predicament you have a better chance with PCI Wireless.

well i'm going to use a nokia wifi enabled phone, which usually can be used in a normal wifi network as well.
