The Microcenter B&M in Fairfax, Virginia, has Gigafast USB WiFi 802.11b network interface devices for $39.99 with Gigafaxt $30 mail in rebate, for net of $9.99.

The thing actually works pretty well.

A USB Wifi NIC can be a very handy thing. Wherever there is a Windows machine with a USB port, it can be WiFi'd fairly easily.

Included in the package is a USB extension cable.

I suspect that this deal is available in other Microcenter B&Ms. However, this and some other Gigafast products are available from the Microscenter Website, but S&H are involved.

Example of other Gigafast rebates (expiring Sunday):

PCMCIA WiFi 802.11b PC card $ 34.99 - $25 mail rebate = $9.99

5 Port 10/100 mini Fast Ethernet switch $29.99 - $25 mailin rebate = $4.99

8 port 10/100 mini Fast Ethernet switch $ 39.99 - $30 mailin rebate = $9.99

I'll have to pick up one. Thanks! I'm using a Linksys WUSB11 right now. It's a wireless USB client and it works well. It is very easy and handy. I can set up a system anywhere in the house and all I have to do is plug in the USB device and I'm connected to the network and internet in a minute.

any quality/compatibility info on this? I got burned buying a speedstream 11b adapter for $9 after rebate deal from circuit city, and it plain doesn't work on compaq and dell.

i've seen this one in action, and the range is pretty bad. the access point and the wifi nic was only a room apart (i'm guessing 25' at max) and signals would always drop. had to move the WAP to the front of the room and finally got 2 bars with stable connection.
