Wife won't let me play games :(

That's funny. I just played a couple games of Scene It on the Xbox with my wife last night.

Go for the more casual/party games and try to encourage her participation.

Well, if you give in to that, you're going to be in for a loooooong and painful marriage 😉

It's reasonable for her to ask you to reduce your game time because of other responsibilities (spending time with her, kids etc etc), but if you let her put the smack down and "force" you to stop playing games, you're essentially saying "ok honey, I accept that you will make my choices and decisions for me". Massive fail.

Agreed

I'm married. If my wife tried to get me to quit a hobby that kept me at home, was not dangerous, and is something she could easily join in, I would remind her that I could have a hobby out at the bars drinking and sleeping with easy women like my friends.

Get a Wii.

Or a set of balls.

The OP should have stated that his wife does not want him playing games ... AND he agreed to it.

Sounds like he graduated cum laude from the Men's School of Wussiness.

Yeah, I tell my gf that all the time as well.

Your friends are easy women?

Really she is FORCING you? That ridiculous. Sorry but that is not healthy, right, or the start of a good marriage. Totally unacceptable on her side IMO. Not that its "games" but that a wfie (or husband) would expect and DEMAND that their other half give something up that they love. It makes no sense. Sure you may have to cut back in the time you devote to XYZ hobby you enjoy, but to deny that hobby? Totally unhealthy for any relationship.

How much were you playing? Sitting up playing counterstrike until 2 a.m. while she's in bed alone does warrant some review. I think it's perfectly fine to play an hour or two a week, or a little when she's out at work or something, but nothing is lamer than a dude on the computer screwing around with video games all day and you're always there with dorky headphones on in some fantasy world when she walks in the door. If you're going to be chained to the computer games, don't expect her to get up from watching Oprah when you come home.

She wouldn't know you were playing games if she were in her place in the kitchen. Tell her to get back to cooking and cleaning and leave you to your gaming.

My wife could only dream to ban me from playing games. She's lobbied for it unsuccessfully for 13 years now. 🙂

Haha, my wife lobbied for it for a decade. I gave in and gave it up and decided to take up triathlon. Now I spend the vast majority of my free time doing that and she says that it's like I'm OCD or something. I always have to have a hobby that is all consuming of my time. 😀
