Ask Bush, he's The Decider, er, oh wait, good idea, ask the American people. Turns out they are the Deciders.

The American people prefer Volvos.

Wow, the point of this thread apparently just soared straight over the heads of about a half dozen ATOTers.

OP, play hardball and knock $$ off MSRP if the rear hatch doesn't have a built-in icemaker.

I can't believe no one asked what's wrong with the fridge and the car that they need new ones...

You're making the assumption that there is some financial responsibility here.

Well as things are turning out . . I might be able to do both - let me 'Splain.

Getting transfered to New Orleans, and all of the apartments that we are checking into will come with a new Fridge.

Now about the car - my 'BeaterMobile' has a stuck valve, and it will cost more to fix the head than the car is worth, even on a trade in if I fix it.
1988 Olds Cutlass Supreme - kinda sorta, except gold in color

When we move there, I will have a fairly long drive to and from work, since so much of the place was hosed
especially areas close to the Michoud Nasa Facility - looks like a real good World War II carpet bombing within 10 miles each direction.
If I come from the North Shore/Slidell area drives could easily exceep 90 minutes just to go 15 miles - I-10 span damage.
The Scion would get pretty decent milage, and hold lots of cargo should the area be threatened by another storm
and we have to escape from the area on short notice, can get out of the foot print of pending destruction
and get far enough away before getting stuck in traffic or having to pay exorbant prices for gas.

Then there's the neighborhoods - what self respecting car thief would risk going to jail for stealing a Scion xB ?
I can just hear it now . . "Yo, Brother - whacha in fo'?"

"I got popped fo' bagin a Scion xB"

"Shuddup" (and knocks the soap out of his hand)

Bet there's be a lot of slappin the soap out of that guy's hand . .

"Done stole a xB? What you thinkin' man."

If you want storage space, why not the Honda Fit? All the seats fold down, the rear seats fold up even so you have a lot of vertical space. You can create a flat space very easily and if the front seat is folded, you can put a canoe there if you want. I believe it will get better mileage than the Scion xB.
