Amex seems to be having a decent deal right now on their vegas packages, can pretty much select any hotel and airfare with discounted prices and the prices don't seem bad for a weekday trip (Monday -> Thursday)

For example;

Round trip airfare from Ft. Lauderdale, FL - > Las Vegas, NV (non stop)
3 nights at the Bellagio
$550/pp

Is the Bellagio still considered to be one of the best? Seems like a good deal afaik, we tried looking up everything separately and it came out at a few hundred more.

You should probably fill your pockets with sand before you head to the beach too. :)

Seriously, the Bellagio is very nice. The Venetian and it's new addition, the Palazo, are both very nice as well. You'd be hard pressed to do much better than any of the three.

Have you ever been to Vegas before? I had a stopover this last March on a trip from Cali to Orlando. If you want other's opinions ... avoid the place. I try to but cannot because my contract carrier has changed.

My question is: Why would anyone actually pay to go to this place?

That's a decent deal, not great but I haven't checked flights and a non-stop from FL plus hotel I'd take it. I really like Bellagio from a playing perspective. You won't be disappointed.

Agree with mpitts on the hotels but the casino is better at bellagio and I've stayed in them all. It really depends on what you want to do.

Skip the Bellagio unless you plan on being in your $250/rm a lot! Stayed at the Bellagio on the Company dime, was nice - great bathrooms!

Stay at Bills, its across the street from the Bellagio on the strip and at $59.95/night is a true bargain. Spend your money on eating some great food and show tickets.

Also, if you happen to be there when Morris Day & The Time is playing at the Flamingo - pick up some tix. Great show!

Will def. look into it, looks to be pretty darn good for the price. The price you quoted for the Bellagio is a bit high in our case though, based on $350 average airfare, were essentially paying $66/night per person ($122/night total)

When you go to Vegas the first thing you do is go and get $100 in nickels. Then you go back to your room and lock the door. Set your nickels down on the bed and stare at them for a long, long time. Why? Because you?re never going to see them again. Then take your nickels into the bathroom and flush them down the toilet one by one by one. The best part is, every so often the toilet will back up and you will feel like a winner!!

Contrary to what a few others have said, I wouldn't skimp on the hotel. The Bellagio is ok. It's not my favorite. The Four Seasons in the Mandalay Bay is my favorite hotel in the area, but it is pricey.

Try the Bellagio. You probably won't be blown away, but you won't be disappointed.

Oh, and go to Mimmo Ferraro's.

Pack you most comfortable walking shoes and live in them when you are in vegas. Damn place is so big but since everything is big you have no frame of reference on how big it is. That Casino next door is 4km away :)

+1. I'm buying a new pair of shoes right before I go to Vegas. I'm probably going to say that when I go, I'll walk more in Vegas than I did in DC last year.

Make sure you have the "hooker talk" with your wife before you get there. You don't want to waste precious vacation time trying to explain yourself while you're there.

I lost 15lb there... And I was on a trictly seafood+steak diet when I was there for a week. And it wasn't water loss since I didn't gain more than 2 lb back in the month I came back from there. Of course I made up the rest later :)

If you are going to hit the slots, do it during the weekday. Less people playing = higher chance of payout.
