I put together my new machine and tried to install WinXP Pro. The first problem I had was that after booting it would not give me the "insert system disk and press enter" message. It would just stop after going through the IRQ list. I solve this by going into BIOS and changing the boot priority order to CDROM then HD. After that I was able to insert the windows CD and go through the install. Near the end of the install it got locked into a boot loop. It would give me the blue screen with the dark blue bars at the top and bottom and the word WELCOME. Then it would hang and finally reboot. I went into BIOS again on one of the reboots and changed the boot order again to Removable disk, HD then CDROM. Next time it went all the way through but I got a message that a serious error had occured.

What exactly happened? Do I have a good install of Windows? I have the Error Signature from the message, if it matters I can type it out.

If you receive any errors at all, you may have a bad stick of RAM. Bad RAM can caused all kinds of problems, and one of the symptoms is random errors during the XP installation process.
