wierd winamp problem

Hello, winamp is screwed up for me, whenever i have another window open and active(anything, a folder another app, a game, anything) winamp sounds all distorted and messed up, but when i have winamp active(like it is the indented program on the taskbar) it sounds fine, even if there are other windows open and it is active it sounds fine, but as soon as i click on another program or windows it goes all distorted again, and i dont mean a little i mean it goes REALLY messed up. Any ideas???? BTW while on the subject of winamp does anyone know if there is a plug in to get more bands on the equalizer????? a 20 or 30 band equalizer would really be nice Thanks guys!!!!

Sound card: SB Live
CD Drives: Creative 4224 burner, Creative 5X DVD.
Hollywood+ DVD decoder
HD's: Maxtor 20GB 7200rpm, Maxtor 30GB 7200rpm, IBM 10GB 7200rpm

PS: i know it is not overclocking causiong the problem as it worked fine for 2 years untill yesterday, And i am running win98SE.

nope nothing new, but i did change the codec for in_mp3 to the old one(Fraunehimer or whatever the hell it was called, they used it up to winamp 2.24) from nitrane that winamp 2.65 usualy uses. Could that be it???? changeing the codec shouldt screw it up should it???? i mean its the same dll that winamp 2.24 uses and i have used 2.24 before.

Try uninstalling and reinstalling WinAmp, that could clear the problem up.

good plan i will try this evening, right now im burning CD's and dont want to do it while buring and i will be burning all day, have 20GB of $hit to archive and free some HD space I'll let you know how it goes. And about a plug in to get a better bigger equalizer do you know if it exsists??????????
