Wierd Slowdown Problem

I have an Asus P2B-S and after several hours of being on the computer starts to take longer and longer to do things. This is immediately noticeable because the clock starts to slow down on the task bar. This has been happening for several months but had never happened before then. I'm not sure what this could be. I'm leaning towards memory, or maybe the battery on the mobo.

If anyone has any suggestions on what this could be it would be helpful.

When power is on your PC the battrey is out of play so that isn't it. If the clock loses time when the power is off than the battery is the suspect.
