Ok I have searched the current threads and didn't come up with anything so if it is out there please point me in the right direction.

I have the following setup:

CusL2
CII @ 850
512 ram
Matrox 450
W2K
Adaptec 2940UW
2 HP 4.2g UW 68pin (IDs 0 and 4)
Plex Ultra 32x 50pin (ID 1)
HP 8432 CDRW 50 pin (ID 2)

Now no matter what I do as far as termination and placement on the 50 pin chain I can't get the two cds to get along.

If the Plex is last and terminated they are both detected and show up fine in 2K. But neither of them will recognize that there is a cd inserted.

If I put the HP last on the cable and terminated (In both cases the others termination is off) the system won't even boot.

Either of them alone and terminated work fine.

I have tried two different cables with the exact same results. I also shut down the wide negotiation in the scsi card on the cdroms (As per Adaptecs' suggestion) to no avail.

I am about to get rid of the HP and get another Plex.... :(

I have a similar system at home but with a Plex 40W and a Plex 12x4x32 burner which works great..

Any ideas, suggestions or even guess are more than welcome..

Thanks!

Rob

Sounds like a problem i once had.... 2 hd's witch work fine by themselves, but together... they were a total no go... unfortunately it was not resolved... one was a 1gb and the other a 6.4 gb.... guess which one got an early retirement...

Yeah... the 6.4 ;) ... actually, looks like the 6.4 is going bad.... it sucks cause my linux partition sits on it.... its giving me plenty of i/o errors... :(

Ouch that stinks..

BTW I took the burner home and it seems to work fine with my W98se system.. Either 2K has a problem with it or my 2940UW is going funky at work. :(

I'll know for sure tomorrow as I am taking my Plex 12/4/32 to work and try it on that machine...

Ahh well going to do some shopping..
