I've got an R8500 64MB vid card, running with a Samsung 900NF. I prefer to run at a res. of 1600 x 1200/85hz. For some reason though, only recently has the screen acted strange running at 85hz. On all the vertical edges there is a strange shimmering effect. If I move down to 75hz the problem disappears. Any ideas?

Try another monitor to narrow down your problem.

It could be your monitor or video card starting to fail.

Wierd..it just started this morning. Any other thoughts? Could this have anything to do with 60hz refresh problem with WinXP. I'm running Cat 3.1s here.

From your description I would bet it's a hardware problem.

Either substitute another monitor or video card to narrow down your problem.

You may also want to un-plug your monitors signal cable and reseat it.

Nah..Sounds like hardware going south. Like others have said, try a different monitor, vid card, etc.

Well..since I'm looking to pick up an R9500 Pro, I'll get a chance to see if it's the vid. Thankfully it still runs at 75hz. Thanks for the help!

I had a similar problem on a previous work PC...it was a Dell 17" Triniton monitor in SIS730 integrated graphics, at 85hz, I would get shimmey diagonal lines moving about, almost like interference.

At 75 or 100hz...they went....weird! Never did figure it out!...maybe that monitor or graphics card was on it's way out!

Could be EMI interference? Do you have any unshield speakers near by, or a TV? Any florescent lights? A multitude of thigns could be causing it.
