Wierd Problems

Ok, I just bought a new GeForce 2 MX card (Creative) to replace my old TNT2 that died. And ever since then I cant get any games to run. Diablo II wont run, Unreal Tournament crashes constantly (and have wierd flickering in the main menu when it DOES run) Half-Life only works in D3D mode and crashes 1/2 the time, and so on with other games. Im running the latest NVIDIA drivers (6.31) and Ive gotten newest patches for all games. Ive uninstalled them, reinstalled...updated. Ive uninstalled/reinstalled the card, done just about everything I can think of. But nothing WORKS...and its really frustrating me. System specs are:

AMD-K6-3 450
Tyan Trinity S1598
w/ VIA 4-in-1 v. 4.25
Creative Annhilator 2 MX (non-oc)
w/ NVIDIA 6.31
Creative Soundblaster Live! value
w/ Liveware!3
Creative Modemblaster II 56k
Windows 98 (newest patches)
w/ DirectX 7a
Western Digital 20Gb

Also, in games like Unreal Tournament, and Half-Life I'll get some really nasty crackling sounds when I play. Anyone have any ideas?

Well, the card DOES run. Or atleast, it runs Winamp plugins that require OpenGL or whatever 🙂 And what do you mean about the "AGP settings"?

Ok, I upgraded to DirectX 8 and it seems to have fixed the problem somewhat. Unreal Tournament works fine (as long as I dont play another game before) and Mechwarrior 4 runs very nicely. Half-Life and Homeworld get into the game, but both just quit when I try and actually play...they display no errors, just go from a blackscreen to desktop
