I had a computer here at home on my network. My router here is a D-Link. First I had it working plugged in, and then I also got it working over wireless with a Netgear USB adapter.
I take the computer and plug it into a different network. This one with a Netgear router. I first tried wireless. The computer could see the SSID and connect, but it would keep failing when obtaining an IP address. I then tried a wired connection. Same thing, fail on obtaining an IP address. This is a Windows XP SP2 machine.
The wierd thing is, there are two other computers on this network, one wired and one wireless, and they both work just fine. They are both Windows 98.
Does the Netgear router not like SP2? That is the only difference I see, considering the two 98 machines work, and the XP machine works on a different network.
The Netgear router is the MR814 if that helps.
Any ideas?
