wierd MSI RS480M2-IL problem. possibly dead. no video

I'm new to these forums but not anandtech/building computers.

Summary: I recently bought a MSI RS480M2-IL for a computer I was building for a friend. I had the system going for a while with a few random shutdowns and other odd errors. Anyway it was working fine for a couple weeks, then I tried setting the option for "fail-safe factory defaults" hoping that might make the setup more stable and since setting that the onboard video has not worked at all.

Question: Has anyone else experienced any problems with this board?

Anyone have any stability or random powerdown problems with this board? Anyone experience the onboard video not working? I tried clearing the cmos and that didn't seem to help at all. All the parts I'm using are brand new. ps is a new antec 350w.

i found this article about a recall on this board on the inquirer http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=20923

i believe this may be what my problem is. anyone have more info on this recall or be effected by it?

You should contact MSI to see if your board's serial number is part of the recall. Your friend may have gotten a old board. At least it will eliminate one possible cause of problem.
