Wierd mouse issues.

I have a very wierd issue with my mouse on my dual CPU system. The mouse usb mouse randomly shuts itself off. If you unplug the mouse and replug it in it begins working again. The mouse works fine on my second machine which is a single processor unit. I have updated the Intellimouse drivers and that didnt fix it either.

Any ideas out there on what to try next?

WHat happens if you use it as a PS/2 mouse?

It works fine if I plug it in as a PS/2 mouse.

Have you tried a different USB port on the dual rig? If possible, try a port on a different feed from the mobo (such as the header pins feeding additional ports). It sounds like the USB port is NFG on your rig, which is a problem with the mobo. What make/model mobo is this??
