Wierd lag in CS: S

cl_smooth 0 in the console, turn off fastwrites in your bios (it's under advanced chipset features I think). Ati I don't think has a stutter problem with fastwrites.. but I may be wrong. Update to the latest drivers for everything in your system, and good luck.

Also if you've never played source before, everything is a little bit lagged due to the netcode actually working perfeclty. You'll fire and about 1 sec later someone dies, that's perfectly normal. You don't get random missed shots like in 1.6, but people still hate that it takes a little under a second to register :p

Maybe its something in your config file, delete it and then restart the game so it will recreate itself

I just had the same troubles, I installed a PCI sound card and stopped using my on-Baord sound and it fixed it for me !

did the sound get all messed up to, mine did, now it doesn't.

it could be your internet since your using bell sympatico, which uses satellite. Satellite internet is known to cause lag spikes depending on the weather and the strength of the signal

here's an easy way to check if it's an internet/server problem, make a LAN game in CS and play around by your self and with bots for a while and check.


Edit: Btw, internet problem could also mean you have incorrect rates set in CS, which would cause CS to be laggy but all your other games seem fine.
