My wife saw this on some show and says that this will help our 3yr old transition and not feel resentment to our newborn due in July. So she tasked me with finding an appropriate gift. Not asking for suggestions on a gift, but just wondering if anyone else has heard of this.

I have heard of this and do think it is a good idea. At that age, a child cannot understand what is going on, except there is someone new in the house.

Get something simple, like a really nice stuffed animal. What about going to Build-a-bear and making a special on for your daughter?

Thanks Lola. I was going to go with the Build-a-Bear thing already :)

I think it will be a good idea. She can hang on to it and when she gets older, hopefully it will hold sentimental value. :)

Congrats to you!

The best advice I can give you is worry less about a physical gift and give him the gift of your time, spend alot more time with him then because its natural for the newborn to be the center of attention (grandparents, neighbors, friends, etc). So plan some time to just play with your 3yrd so he doesnt think he was replaced.
