So I got a kick butt set up and Im testing them all out with 3dmark 2001, 2003, and 2005.
I started with 2001. I am using a 1gig stick of Kinston ddr2 667 set in bios at 533, have the cpu settings at Async PCIe-100, PCI-33.33, and here is where it starts to get funky.
Thought I was doing great and had a hell of a cpu on my hands. But for some reason in 2001 I will not get any artifacts unless I go over 310 FSB, BTW this is all at stock volts, graphics card, cpu, the works, on stock HSF, and not over clocking my X1900GT.
But anyway. Anything over 310FSB and all hell breaks lose and I start to see weird things at 315fsb. 310, and everything looks great and the cpu gets no hotter the 50c.
Now with 3dmark2005 at 310fsb I get big time artifacts everywhere. I get a clean test at 295 fsb, anything more then that, and I get artifacts. Keeping in mind at 310 fsb, I can boot into windows, nothing else seems to go wrong. No errors, nothing but some artifacts at 315 in 2001, and anything over 295 in 2003.
But now in 3dmark 2003 I get artifacts unless I set to 280fsb or below. Anything over that I get artifacts in the nature part, but in nothing else.
I am kinda new to this overclocking stuff, and this is my first Intel set up. Everything else I have built in the last 8+ years has always been AMD. Am I doing something wrong? Why can I go to 310 in 2001 with no problems at all but in anything else I have to go lower? Do I have something bad like cpu, mobo, or mem? Should I swap out the stick of ddr 667 and put in a gig of pc400 ddr?
Any help to point me in the right direction would be great. Im not complaining, it is a huge jump from my AMD 4000+ set to 280 FSB, but it was even much bigger set to 310, and would like to be able to put it there if I can without having to vmod, if I dont have to.
TIA
