ok so my mother board has a built in fan controllers for the cpu fan and chipst fan and recently its been ounding like a fan has been speeding up and slowing down frequently except for in games, and i cant get reach the chipset fan to test it, is there a way i can disable the fan controller? i have a dfi ut lanparty ultra-d

Have you run SpeedFan?
It can monitor and display the fan speeds, allowing you to determine which fan is changing speed. In addition, it can take over control of the fan speeds (if you configure it properly) which may settle things down.

SpeedFan will also monitor and display temps on your board so you can see if there is something amiss causing the fans to legitimately change speed.

Finally, SpeedFan can be set to alarm should temps or fan speeds go beyond limits you set.

Seems like it would at least provide info to help understand what's going on. And perhaps allow you to remedy the problem too.
