Wierd Divx viewing problem, please read and help

I have the movie HeartBreakers on Divx and I want to run it, but I can't. I tried windows media player and it tries to download a codec and fails. i tried the divx player(the Playa) from Divx.com and that didnt work. With windows media player, I just hear the sound of the movie. However when I open Virtual Dub, and play the video through there, it works, so please tell me what I am doing wrong. My specs are on my signature and I am running win2k

Try reinstalling every DivX codec that is out there!

First start clean with only v3.11 Alpha installed (maybe the others combined on your system give conflicts), than go for the vki one that you can get on www.animetools.cjb.net and than the one from divx.com ..

*Be sure to uninstall every other old divx related codec that is on your system.
Since Virtual Dub does work but players don't I figure your windows register/drivers/codec's etc are messed up.

you might need smr codec, i had same problems without it

where is that smr codec?

SMR is a special codec some groups out there use.. you can find it at www.animetools.cjb.net too.

Don't ask me any details on the codec tho, it's there and it works great

dudes got a point....smr might be the codec you require.
