wasn't she actually good though?

None of this qualifies her to be playing in event on the PGA tour. Being a capable teenager, which she is, doesnt cut it on the PGA tour and doesnt make it right for her to be taking a spot in a tournement that others are out there beating there brains out to get.

She's an awesome player and since pro golf is very big business, I have absolutely no problem if sponsors want to invite her to their own tournaments. They are the ones putting up the millions in prize money that continues to grow every year.
However I'm not a fan of Wie believing that she deserves something she hasn't earned and would love to see her put her game where her mouth is, or stfu until she does. Yes she's only 16, but she's starting to run her mouth beyond her years as well. If she continues to talk without the walk, expectations that she is helping to create, she's going to garner nothing but resentment from the public.
It really doesn't matter how much resentment she gets from the public. When and If she eventually starts winning, the public will immediately be all over her. She could fail for 40 years and then if she starts beating the men, she will be on the front page every day.
The top five isn't a win. Second place is only the first loser.Originally posted by: Lucky

God, Wie sucks bad. Why she wants to compete on the PGA tour is beyond me. She can't even hack it on the LPGA circuit!
She can't "hack it"? She's finished top five several times, I think that's a wee bit more than not being able to "hack it". Also, she can't really play "the circuit", as she is limited to playing 6 events a year on the LPGA, so her ability to gain experience is limited.
And I don't care how good she is, she's raking in the cash. $10 million/year endorsements, $700K endorsement fees for a men's tourney's where the total prize pool was only 600K, etc.
She needs to compete where she has a chance of whinning.

The money is a non issue -- she is a media darling and is making the money in contracts despite have any valuable skill. She needs to compete where she has a chance of whinning.

Of course, and so is Wie. I don't know much about Wie, but anyone that even has the capacity to play in any of these tournaments is obviously a good player. The conflict comes from all the attention they get when far better players don't, but then that goes back to what I said.
