She has a nice ass but that doesn't qualify her for the Mens tourneys. I'm really starting to dislike her, she's turning into a spoiled brat

wasn't she actually good though?

She is/was nowhere near as good as she is/was hot.

I don't think she ever won a singles tournament on the pro tour.

Tennis benefited from Kournikova, auto racing benefited from Danika Patrik, and golf benefits from Wie.

None of this qualifies her to be playing in event on the PGA tour. Being a capable teenager, which she is, doesnt cut it on the PGA tour and doesnt make it right for her to be taking a spot in a tournement that others are out there beating there brains out to get.

She doesn't "take spots", dolt. She is competing on sponsor's exemptions.

However I'm not a fan of Wie believing that she deserves something she hasn't earned and would love to see her put her game where her mouth is, or stfu until she does. Yes she's only 16, but she's starting to run her mouth beyond her years as well. If she continues to talk without the walk, expectations that she is helping to create, she's going to garner nothing but resentment from the public.

It really doesn't matter how much resentment she gets from the public. When and If she eventually starts winning, the public will immediately be all over her. She could fail for 40 years and then if she starts beating the men, she will be on the front page every day.

That would be a miserable 40 years for her if she doesn't stfu in the meantime. Its just not wise for prodigys to talk smack about 'being the first to...' etc. before they execute. Not even Tiger did that.

She can't "hack it"? She's finished top five several times, I think that's a wee bit more than not being able to "hack it". Also, she can't really play "the circuit", as she is limited to playing 6 events a year on the LPGA, so her ability to gain experience is limited.

And I don't care how good she is, she's raking in the cash. $10 million/year endorsements, $700K endorsement fees for a men's tourney's where the total prize pool was only 600K, etc.
The top five isn't a win. Second place is only the first loser.

The money is a non issue -- she is a media darling and is making the money in contracts despite have any valuable skill. She needs to compete where she has a chance of whinning.

Right, so coming in top 5 - and even second place - three times means she didn't have a chance to win? Of course not. She just didn't execute. The point is, she can hack it.

She's extremely overrated. A good example of someone who the media/sponsor want to win, but just can't.

You do realize that the majority of competing professionals do so in tournaments where they have very, very little chance of actually winning? Those that win the tournaments are generally the same people (golf might be more of an exception), and that's probably the top 10% of the top 10% of competition.

You never even hear about most of the professional players in any sport. Those that are out of the media are still great players and they still make a great living.

Well she's really redeeming herself this week at the John Deere:eek:

She opened with a 77 and is on her way to an 85 or so today and is in dead last.

Of course, and so is Wie. I don't know much about Wie, but anyone that even has the capacity to play in any of these tournaments is obviously a good player. The conflict comes from all the attention they get when far better players don't, but then that goes back to what I said.

15 over is good?

It's great if you're an amateur but at this level 15 over is not good.

If women can play on the men's tour, can men play on the Women's tour?

No such thing as the "men's" tour. But there is a "women's" tour.

I don't care if she keeps missing, she looks hot trying.

I'd play in her grouping especially in a couple more years :)

9-15-2006 Michelle Wie's admirable but still-unsuccessful attempts to become the first woman to make the cut on the PGA Tour in 61 years increasingly are taking on the look of folly, rather than soon-to-happen reality.

Wie was last again at the 84 Lumber Classic with rounds of 5-over 77 Thursday and 9-over 81 Friday. The 81 represents her worst round in the 11 men's tournaments in which the 16-year-old Hawaii high school student has competed, not all against PGA golfers.
