Widescreen monitors

I'm interested in getting a widescreen aspect ratio monitor, like the Sony FW900. It would be nice to have the ability of having two full-page documents open without the seam down the middle I have with two separate monitors.

Does anyone know how well the Sony FW900 performs?? Any actual user experiences? No stores local to me seem to carry them, and I don't want to buy such an expensive monitor without knowing anything other than the specs on the PDF file.

Any other widescreen monitors I should consider?? I know Samsung makes a 24" LCD, but it's far too expensive:Q. I'll pay $1800, but not $4500 (or whatever). The Apple 22" Cinema Display is nice, too, but since it's an LCD, it's locked at 1600x1024, and I will probably want higher. It's also well over $2000 and AFAIK, there is no software for the PC that will let me control the monitors brightness, contrast, etc (controlled by software via USB on a Mac).

Any suggestions appreciated! :)

I have the Sony FW900 and I love it. Games are awesome on it. I had a voodoo 3000, and I now have a Geforce 4 4400, and both were fantastic with this monitor. Worth every penny!

Thanks for the feedback!

Does anyone know of any other widescreen monitors I should consider? Again, not so keen on the Apple Cinema or Apple HD Cinema displays, but they are also significantly more expensive than I'd be willing to spend ($2200 and $3200 respectively) and lack Windows drivers.
