Widescreen monitor question.

If I buy a widescreen, Would my video card have to support it? or does it detect it and support it? I am thinking of using widescreen for my intergrated video card.

Well, back to my question. Will the card detect the widescreen monitor and then a driver or something can give it the widescreen ability?

but its not widescreen in the first place 😕

1. You're missing the point of all these posts.
2. Any GPU, even integrated, that has come out in the past few years will support almost any widescreen resolution.

Looks like all of you guys were wrong. At first, my highest resolution was 1024x768. I got my widescreen and plugged it in, it then showed that i have 1440x900. Thanks for trying to help though.

Uh, nobody was wrong in this thread. You just confirmed what they said was true.

Why did you tell us that the monitor you were getting was 1024x768 when clearly it is 1440x900 (19" widescreen)? I guess 1024x768 is the res you were running on your old monitor, but that's got nothing to do with what ppl were asking.

Not only does he read Anandtech, but he's got 340 posts.

Apparently, he has managed to avoid absorbing even the tiniest detail about computers in all his time on AT and the forums. Quite a feat!!

Somebody give this guy a medal.

I just bought it, so I can't try out until i buy it. I wanted to see if it will work, but it seems no one really gave me the answer i was looking for, so i tried it my self.
