Widescreen LCD monitors?

Is it possible to get a widescreen (16:9) LCD monitor? Or only a LCD tv?

I know that Samsung makes a 17" widescreen LCD. The price is fairly reasonable too.

Dell equips their Inspiron notebooks with 1920x1200 (WUXGA) widescreen 15" LCD's. If I could find these for desktop I would certainly shell out the cash! (just not 4k for the 22" desktop version that's only analog...)

If they can make them with a reasonable price for notebooks, why not desktops!!! I want my desktop space (more resolution please...)

that can't be native resolution?

While I don't know the specific native res of that lap top that sounds about right. Comparitivly lap top LCDs run at higher resolutions then desktop LCDs. Many/maybe most 15" lap top LCDs run at 1600x1200.

Because the viewing distance is about 6 feet. Also, a projecotr will run me a lot more than 600 or so right?

Since your viewing distance is going to be about 6' , something with lower resolution would be better. Everything will be larger. This should work quite well for both TV Viewing and Computer.

there are many makes of wide LCDs.

i have a philips 17" one, and its great. the widescreen models are usually extra bright for movie use too. the particular one i have i know was onyl $325 at tigerdirect a few weeks ago (i bought mine much much longer ago)


i know samsung makes a 23" wide (its like $3k though at best buy) that does 1600x1050 i think.


if i were you though, and needed a large screen, i'd get one of the new hdtv lcd projection tvs, you can get a 42" with dvi in 1280x768 resolution for around $1300 at most stores.
