Wide screen aspect

I see this new 2005 FP has a 16:10 aspect. Isn't wide screen 16:9? What doesn't anyone just make them 16:9. Why would you want fewer pixels as this does 1680x 1024 or some such and the 2001FP does 1.6 x 1.2. that gives?
