Looking to take the girlfriend out for her birthday. Has anyone seen the new broadway show Wicked? It looks pretty interesting, and I have always like the Wizard of Oz.

Wicked - Musical

Also need some restaurant recommendations for the theater discrict in NYC. I was looking at the 21 club, the pre-theater dinner looks pretty good. Is it as snobby as it looks though?

21 Club

EDIT: I decided to get tickets for the first weekend in October. I still need to pick a restaurant though. I am looking for something about 30-40 a person, with a loose dress code if possible. No jacket and tie, im looking for more like a polo/kakhi type place. My girlfriend really likes creme brulee, so if theres a place off the top of your head thats really good let me know. Also need it within a few blocks of the gershwin theater, which is on 51st and broadway.

I've been hearing good things about Wicked. I might go see it soon with the gf.

If you like Sushi/Dim sum, there's this nice place that I went with coworkers yesterday called Ruby Foo's. I think it's on 48th and Broadway.

Spamalot and Wicked are amazing shows (seen both). You could try to get tickets for wicked via lottery the day of the performance. Spamalot is nearly impossible to get tickets for. Either show you have to buy in advance.

It's kind of like a Chinese brunch. You sit down at a table and waiter roll up with these little hand carts full of food. Theyre all in little containers that has a small serving for 2-4 people. You just start picking the ones you like and they run up a tab for you. Can get pricey depending on how much the restaurant charges were dish, and dishes are ranked from small, med, large.

21 Club

I went to the 21 Club for restaurant week. it wasn't anything special. the decor was kinda crappy, and the food albeit good, didn't do anything for me.

St. Andrews is a nice casual restaurant/pub on 44th between 6th and Broadway.

Trattoria Trecolori is an Italian restaurant on 45th between 6th and 7th.

Wicked's a decent sounding show, kinda depends on your taste and what sort of evening you're wanting. Wicked'll be a lot of pop-style screamin' belters. An interesting take on the Wicked Witch.

The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee would be another recommendation. From the guys that did Falsettos, one of my all-time favorites.

Heard good things about Spamalot.

Avenue Q I love, but it gets a tad "risque" :) Two Words: Puppet Sex.

Gotta put the word in for All Shook Up. I've worked with Cheyenne and it's been great to see him make good on Broadway. All Elvis songs and a surprisingly good story.

Hairspray's a good one.

Off-Broadway, Altar Boyz is a funny show, I hear. Some Christian boy band, if memory serves.

At any rate, some other options so that tickets are a bit easier to come by.

I wouldn't do ebay (I've always had a fear of getting fake tickets). I usually use ticketmaster. There are other websites but they usually jack up the prices to like $400 a pop.

Feeling lucky? Anyway both shows are hard to get.

If you don't already have tickets, your best bet may to just go early and see what you can get from TKTS for cheap.

I guess I should also mention that you won't get tickets for shows that are still selling out (i.e. Wicked, Spamalot, Spelling Bee) but then again you wouldn't get tickets for those shows on short notice even for face value on Ebay.
