Wich would be quiter, a Panaflo L1 or a Panaflo M and fanmate?

Hello,

I have a AMD sempron 2800+ and Asus k8s-mx. I'm using the onboard graphics and sound. I mainly only do web surfing and some movie watching.

the stock fan on the heatsink is too loud, it is cool though, i think. The idle temp, just web surfing is 31 C, the temp after 2 hours of prime95 is 38 C. I didnt want the hassle of replacing the heatsink so I thought I would try replacing the fan.

So, I ordered a 80mm panaflo L1a, a 70->80mm adapter and a fanmate 2. My order came today and they sent a Panaflo M instead. Grrr...

Would a L1a running at 1200 rpm be any quieter than the Medium running at 1200 rpm?

Just for yucks I tried the Medium that I DID receive. It's too loud at full speed, so I cranked the fanmate all the way down. It's very quiet, but much warmer. The idle temp was 34 C. After an hour of prime95 the temp was 48 C, it jumped there in the first 5 minutes and held steady. Is this too warm?

Thanks,
Jason

its fine since you dont game anyway and prime95 makes it run at its max. Its gonna be at 34c almost all the time while surfing and it would probably never reach 48c when u watch movies

The L1A should be quieter than the medium (M) speed fan at low RPMs because it was designed to run at those low RPMs.
