i was looking at the i3-560 just cuz its the most expensive 😛 so it MUST be the best right?

Wrong 😛
I3 3220 is the best.

That I3 is a first gen based on clarkdale, no longer manufactured and slower than the new ones. The i3 2xxx is sandybridge and if i remember correctly the newest generation bsed on ivybridge is labeled 3xxx.

Technically, i3-3220 is the best value. There's an i3-3240 that's slightly faster, but not really worth it.

You do have some discrete graphics card, right? Any particular reason you're avoiding i5s other than price? If you answer [thread=80121]some questions[/thread] we could be more helpful.

mainlt because of price is why im not going with a i5, also yes i have a PCI-E vid card im building it now and will post it soon to get some info thanks.

here is my build, i tryed to keep it under 500 but i MIGHt just get everything BUT the video card and hold it off for annother month so i can get a modern better one and just use my old 5770 till then. is the 560Ti good? whast a good but not overpriced video card?

Below is my build comment on what YOU would change and why? remember keep it under 500 with video card and 400 WITHOUT video card.

Then buy a used i5.

I agree, i5 is the sweet spot for gaming now. You dont even have to get the higher priced ones. I have an i5 2320, and am very happy with it. I think the ivy i5, lowest end is around 180.00. That is only about 50.00 more than a i3, and well worth it. You might even be able to get a good deal on a used sandy bridge quad also, as Maximillian suggested.

I know you posted not to consider suggesting an i5, but I think it is clearly such a better choice for a gaming rig, that we have to suggest it.

Edit: Do you live near a microcenter? They have some really excellent deals on cpus and cpu/mobo combos. Unfortunately they are in store only deals.

also is my P/S sufficent? or too much? would my 550 do just fine? if my 550 will power my setup i dont need to buy one opening my buget up to better things such as a processor 🙂

I currently have a 550W

You can run all that on a good 400 W PSU, I ran my Quad 125W CPU + GFX for a long time on a Chieftec 340W PSU.

CPU 50-65W? GFX 150W max? Say 50-100W to be on the safe side with fans and all?

Just because its expensive doesn't mean its the best.

I can't tell if you're trolling

i3 3220 is bang foe DAT buck

With a game open, I typically draw around 240w at the wall. (just the tower, accessories not included)

I'm sure 550w is plenty.

If you're talking about Trinity that isn't Bulldozer nor has it been getting horrible reviews.

Vishera is still NDA so I'm pretty sure you're trolling a bit here.

I'd say go the use i5 route as some of the others have suggested.
