My question(s) is this.
Why do people continue to use AOL and pay for 24+ dollars for dial up while there are other services out there that will only charge about 10. Ex. Netscape, Netzero?
Are the cheaper ones that bad? does the AOL browser attract people? is it AOL's virus protection? Don't the others provide some virus protection?

I honestly don't know and I dont have time to look into it right now since I have class soon.
But ofcourse there is always time to type a question in Anandtech. ;)

because they market it as easy to use, secure, and family friendly.

aol is for stupid people. its for people who know nothing about computers.

a quick glance around your office and you'll probably see the people who use AOL.

I think it is because that is all many consumers know. AOL has been around a long time and is part of our common language.

A significant number of consumers don't need or want anything else.
