I don't even know how much they charge, but it isn't worth it. At MOST, a few bucks of savings?

Just go to namecheap.com(or godaddy) and let it be independent of the host!

Good advice.

Use a domain registrar to register domains and a web host to host web sites.

Brilliant, I know --- please hold your applause 😛

Let me see...

1) Can transfer domain name to another domain register
2) Limited size photo
3) Can host photo only

Because they take out 324-page ads in the computer magazines I have a monthly subsscrip to. :| Bastards.

They have these full color glossy ads with pics of people that obviously know nothing about computers, servers or operating systems...smarmy looking fckers. 😛 It takes me 10 seconds to flip past their ads, which I NEVER read, to get back to whatever article I was reading in the first place! Bastiges.

No way, we get bombarded with AOL <insert version here> cd's through the letter box everyday too.

I often wondered why America Online decided to expand to the British market without using a new / different name, heck even BOL would have been better, wouldn't have changed the quality of the shite service though

I don't know what to compare Oneandone to here, because quite frankly they have no competition anywhere in Europe, they dominate the entire hosting market and like I said, I doubt it'll take long before they dominate the US and other alternative places too.

Many, many people lost out on a lot of money due to the fact they just can't compete with what 1+1 can offer and for the price they offer it at.

Anyways, off to bed, it's 6am 🙁

Those 10 page glossy posh ads work though, I was shown the figures for advertising expenses and profit differences before and after they originally started those nice, oversized adverts back a couple of years ago, and the increase was substantial.

They ripped me off when I tried to transfer a domain. I had to re-register it twice and charged me despite the fact that I already had paid for the domain. Then, when I refused to pay, they reported it to the Debt Collections Agency. :| fcukin' whack. :disgust:

Well they target the mainstream 'average user' and 'average business user' market, they always have and they always will.

I was speaking to my friend that works in their head office in England in detail about it and, just like AOL, their goal is to make things 'simple' for the end-user.

I have to admit, their customer service in my experience is second to none, however their control panel is very limited in what you can do with it, but they're not interested in the 'geek market', only the business user that they can keep happy with simple services that will make them the most money.

Their shared hosting packages have been pretty good from what I've used, but they've always been a few steps behind what else is available, however in saying that, I've yet to find a cheaper host for what I want in the UK, that has anywhere close the the uptime / reliability that they have.

Oh and, their dedicated servers are to die for, you get one of those, you get special treatment in my experience, and they're cheap.

Again, this is from my view in the UK, things may very well be different in the US.

Really, going to bed now before I knock myself un-concious on the desk.
