why wouldn't jefferson be an anarcho-capitalist today?

i think he'd be more than open to it. i know i am not the only one.

i think that he'd be more open to it philosophically as realistic solution even if he didnt support support pushing the red button right away.

please tell me why this thread is ridiculous too.🙂

I could care less if you started 20 threads a day as they're no worse than the other threads in here. I don't see any forum rules against doing such unless the subject of the thread violates the rules.

OP please spend some time actually explaining why you think Jefferson would feel this way, support it by citing his writings. 🙂

There's something like 6 threads of his on the front page with two of them locked. And seeing as this is talking about a person from 200 years ago it's an American history analysis thread and neither politics nor news.

he was kind of against a race to the top (i.e., capitalism), but he'd possibly be some sort of anarchist, don't know which type. two reasons right off the top of my head:

he supported secession which could eventually lead to more people being individual sovereigns;

King George III's abuses of power are nothing like most Executive States since.

So he would no doubt want his geographical country to secede today just as i do.

Indeed, why wouldn't he be a swinger today and into wife swapping? Or into My Little Pony? Secretly enjoying disco? Or for that matter, an ararcho-capitalist?

One thing I can be pretty sure of, is he wouldn't be spending his time on technical/computer forums name-dropping some 200+ years dead white guy as potentially sympathetic to his obscure belief system.

well, if people could see that jefferson had free market, anti-war, pro-civil liberties tendencies, then maybe more people would rather not be governed. i think he may have been a left-libertarian in his day rather than an early anarcho-capitalist is because in his day more people were distrustful of monarchy and Austrian economics hadn't been organized yet although there were proto-Austrians in his day... if he saw that classical republicanism and that our form of govt isn't classical republicanism, then perhaps he would think that all govt is futile. i dont know and it is stupid of me to speculate.🙂

and dont forget that jefferson was a secessionist, and the more peoples' who secede, then the less centralization the world over so that many societies would be anarcho-capitalist. some people myself included are anarcho-secessionists with the goal of anarcho-capitalism after secession.
