I have to pay in a certified form of a check (money order, cashier check, actual check). I hate it. I'd rather have the landlord knock on my door and I give him the cash. Instead, I go to the bank, take out $500.00, go to the post office, get a money order and mail my rent a day late (not that he cares it is a day late).

I've paid with cash for my rent for several years now - PLus it gives me a chance to see the landlord at least once a month to mention anything this needs looking at - If work doesn't get done, all the money doesn't get paid.

Both are very happy with the situation as he says that it keeps him on his toes to ensure and maintainance works get carriedo out on time.

I did originaly have a standing order set up, but the bank fubared the arrangments

Reasons to use cash:

1. You prefer to.
2. You can't balance a checkbook.
3. You don't have a checking account (see #2).
4. You're trying to hide your income, and don't want to leave a trace.

Get some ID and references on this person before you agree to anything.

I prefer cash for whatever I can. Nothing to hide, but I'd also not like to make myself any easier to locate than necessary.

If she doesnt have a bank account kinda hard to pay with a check. If cash bothers you so much as her for a Money order then.

Where's her pic. If she's cute, maybe I can put her on my non-nude site.

I paid my rent in cash often. I don't like checks (see the supermarket check thread), I know I won't bounce, and I know the landlord got the money/check didn't get lost in the mail.

people with bankruptcys actually get the most credit card offers because they can't declare bankruptcy again for a long time.

and a bank doesn't care if you've just gone bankrupt when you deposit a sum of cash with them.

Probably doesn't have a checking account due to past problems, which could range from minor overdraft stupidities to criminal fraud convictions (who knows?). I strongly recommend that renters not pay their rent in cash -- checks make for an excellent paper trail, cash does not.
