No I wasn't taking up two spots.
And I just bought the car, of course I am mad. Im paying good money for a nice vehicle. If it's all dinged up because some cvnt couldn't get her bumpy fat a$$ out of her car without swinging her door into mine, it takes my investment and throws in out the window.

In college a guy pulled up next to me before I could get out of my Jeep. I looked at him like WTF and he just gave me the oh well shrug and left. He was so close that I had to crawl out the passenger side. But before doing so I slammed and I mean slammed my door into his car. Left a real nice dent. My door was already messed up from hitting a deer anyway. Man that felt good.

Sorry about your car then. 🙁

well thats your problem ... cars aren't investments 😛

Oh noes, somebody dinged my car! Cry some more noob. You're just mad 'cause somebody else took your car's ding cherry. Next time get a sledge hammer and ding your car the moment you get the keys from the car sales guy.

Or maybe you should just park your car in the garage and take the bus instead.

How did you hit a deer with your door? 😵

I understand why you are frustrated. I would be too, but this ding has hardly thrown your investment out the window. Arguably, your car hasn't lost any value (except to you) because of the ding.

Most used car buyers expect to see these dings.

I was going to say that!

There ARE exceptions to that rule however.

But Honda's don't fit into that rule.

AC Bristol Cobras do though! 🙂

They can be. I am paying money for:

1. A running car to get me from point a to point b
2. Style/Image
3. Possible resale in the future

That's an investment for me. I pay money in, and get these things in return.

Ran into me while I was driving. Took off the mirror and dented the whole side of the Jeep. The initial impact was actually with the mirror. Needed to move the hinges to get the door to swing right.

Exactly.... who would invest in something that loses a good percentage of its value as soon as it leaves the lot?

Edit: I posted slow....so after reading your response to the investment question....I guess I can see it that way and not ad just a $$$ investment.

I do feel for ya though...

However...back when I drove a beater I used to look for the the people parked far away from everyone and purposly park right next to their drivers side.

I wouldn't ding their door, but I would make it difficult for them to get in.

All in good fun. 🙂

I wouldn't call it an investment. Your brand new car already lost a huge percentage of it's value the moment you drove it off the lot. The small dent is much less than your car's regular depreciation it's going to be insignificant in the long run.

investments appreciate, not deprecite. that's like saying buying my xbox360 and my 50" DLP 2 years ago for $3K was an investment. it wasn't, it was a purchase.

Sorry about the car. At least you had the decency to park in the back away from everyone instead of being on of those a-holes that takes up two space up front. I have no problems with people that value their cars and want to keep them pristine unless they pull the multiple park spot thing or think they can park right in front of the store (i.e. not in a parking spot).

Ummm... what if you can't get to your job without one? Your 360 doesn't have the same value... UNLESS you are entering and winning money in tournaments, then, yes, it could be seen as an investment.

[edit] Cars can also influence clients if your job happens to involve sales and/or theneed to transport clients.

a car is simply a tool. it gets you from point A to point B. whether you have a mercedes or a pinto, the end result is you get from point A to point B, and it will depreciate in value.

on the other hand, investments will result in more money in the long run than you initially paid. that isn't going to happen with a new honda.

lol i was just messing around with im and getting technical, nothing more 😛

I love how half the people here think that door dings are absolutely fine. Have you ever thought that your apathy is the reason that other people get away with it? Damaging property is never cool in my book. Just because you have a sh!tty car that you're going to re-sell for $5 or junk doesn't mean that everyone else shouldn't care about their vehicles. How would you feel if someone started chipping pieces of brick or vinyl siding off of your house?

To me, my car is an investment in the fact that I need a vehicle that can do what I need to do, which includes get me to work, over the course of atleast 10 years. It's like buying a tool. And a good person will take care of thier tools. You lose your tools, you can't work. That's why Mac tools can sells stuff at 5x the cost of Craftsman which sells stuff for 5x more than Great Neck. That $5 socket set can cost you $500 worth of lost work when it breaks/isn't good enough/etc. to perform your required task.

If you're in a case where your car is part of your job, the looks of the car do matter. If someone pulled up in a banged up cab, you'd think less of that cab driver, right? You'd probably see if any other cab around is in better condition, and choose thier cab. Well, it's the same when someone is with a prospective client. The better care taken=percieved better care that will be taken of thier account.

While I don't think it's a good idea to take a $50k thing out in public and expect it to remain pristine, I think it's flat out fucknuttery to damage someone else's property intentially, or through just flat out apathy. Even when I drove a 1980 Plymouth Champ (which an insurance company totalled at $1400 when some old guy drove through me in a parking lot), I kept my doors from dinging other people's cars. When I was driving around a 1987 Volvo that I got for free that could hit a brick wall at 40MPH and keep running (Top Gear proved that), I still treated other cars with respect.
