Why would one get a Duron Vs. a Thunderbird

I was checking out Pricewatch and a Duron 700 came up for 140 while a Slot A Thunderbird 700 came up for 143. What is the point of getting a duron then? The thu8nderbird is faster and can easilly be oc'ed with a goldfinger. Is there somthing i'm missing? Is a Duron a better ocer then a Thunderbird?
 
I've heard Duron 600's going to 900.. dunno how tbird's overclock. Also, aren't Duron's easier to find?
 
Slot A is now a past format. Future AMD processors will be Socket A. If you are buying a new motherboard as well as a processor, then there is no point to buying an old format like Slot A (or Socket 7), because you won't be able to upgrade to a new processor in the next couple of years.

The Duron 600 can be o/c-ed to 900 and can be had as low as ~$75.

Then 6 to 18 months from now, you will be able to drop in a much faster processor for about the same price.
 
For some reason the T/birds don't overclock well. A 300MHZ overclock is common on Durons but 100MHz is more likely on a T/bird.
