hair sample can show drugs taken long after it's out of your body. If your drug using past becomes a question during the hearings, they can test by hair. Didn't she just go to rehab, maybe she learned something about that and freaked out

it depends on if you think that people who act outside of cultural norms are abusing themselves ...although in this case i think it could be some kind of attempt to shed the past

Interesting responses. I shaved my head for the first time in 1985. My hair was double-processed (bleached and permed). Between the double processing and swimming in cholorine 2 hours a day, my hair was fried. So I buzzed it off. It was spur of the moment. There was no deep psychological reason, it just seemed like the right thing to do (and yes, I was sober!). Besides, it looked great. Even my conservative parents thought it was striking. I kept it buzzed until Sinead OConner did hers and then people started making comments that I had done it because of her and it was no longer fun.
Second time I did it I was 30+. I was on my way to Hawaii for a couple of weeks and since I had liked it so much the first time, seemed like a good time to do it again. Made for super easy care. I didnt experience anyone who had an issue with it. I was staying at a youth hostile and most of the other travelers assumed I was European. I think the shaved head thing is only an issue here in the States.

but you are missing my point. I'm simply offering a possible reason why she is doing it. and by the way, if you don't take any drugs while growing the hair, it won't show up in the hair. It only goes into your hair when you take it. If she stops, hair grown from now on will not contain any traces.
edit: and let me just add it's Britney Spears we are talking about here. she's not the brightest person in the world. Just imagine her sitting in a room at rehab, learning about the hair test. Does it not seem plauible that she would run out and have it sdhaved?

Factoid--Did you tin foils hats are 200% more effective with a shaved head than with a head of hair? Its the equivalent of adding thermal grease instead of using the TIM pads stuck to the bottom of cheap heatsinks.

I know lots of women who at one point or another has shaved their heads. I think many of them look good, like Sinead O'Conner.
