Why wont WindowsXP let me install my Sound Blaster Audigy???

I am running a AMD 1,2 GHz athlon on a Abit Kt7 motherboard. 256 MB ram. Nvidia GeForce 256 DDR Video Card. Just bought a Sound Blaster Audigy sound card, but after I installed it in my computer, XP wont install it, keeps saying the data is invalid, from the installation CD.
I went to the store and exchanged it for a new one, but I get the same error. Cannot install this hardware, there was an error installing this device. The data is invalid.

Anyone know how I can fix this???????

Could be that your CD-Rom needs cleaning and is not reading the CD properly....because the Audigy has native driver support for XP on the CD this is certain

Was your WinXP OS a clean install or upgrade?

Is the SB Audigy being detected and listed in System information or Device manager?

Try a different PCI slot, and disable all programs running in the background like anti-virus during install, last option is reformat HD and do a clean install of WinXP and try again.

I had the same problem..ended up by selecting the option (part way into the setup process from the audigy install cd) to just install the drivers. Then I installed the XP update for the audigy, then went back and installed the "extras" that I wanted from the install cd. 🙂

*edit* from the load options, just pick the audigy, unclick all the others. Then part way into the setup (I picked custom, not typical) make sure that the only box checked is for drivers.
