Why won't this ram work?

Hi all.

Motherboard: EVGA p55 FTW
CPU: i5 661
HD7950 GPU
Couple of HD's
Win7 x64

Currently, I am using 3 2x2gb sticks of Patriot Ram ( 6gb total).

I recently purchased 2 sets of CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B Ram from newegg. (16gb in total)

I am not overclocking. I'm using default settings on the motherboard ( choosing auto wherever possible ).

When I insert all 16gb, I can't even get the MB to post.
When I insert only 2 sticks (8gb), I get past post, but as soon as windows 7 begins to start, I get BSOD.

From what I've read, the motherboard should be able to support this RAM. Any ideas?

Have you reset your CMOS?

It sounds like maybe the board isn't putting out enough voltage or trying to auto-run the memory at too high a frequency.

If you can get it to post with the old stuff, set it manually to 1.5v@1066 or something "safe" and then try the new stuff. Then run Memtest.

Or, hell, just RMA it and try somebody else's product. Crucial claims this one's compatible.

You may have a bad stick (or 2) of ram. Try each 4GB stick of ram separately in one slot by itself and see how that goes. If one of the sticks is bad you may be able to isolate it.
