Why won't this hard drive show up on my computer?

I took this hard drive out of a replaytv and want to use it a hard drive for the computer. However it will not show up on my computer.

If I go to the device manager it is there and says it is working properly. But it's not accessable!

Did you reformat it? I'm sure ReplayTV (like TiVo) uses a custom disk format that Windows can't read.

Does it show up in Disk Management? If so, just reformat it there and it should be usable.

Yeah, the replay uses a 'nix variant os, so you'll need to reformat.

If you're running 2k or xp, rt-clk My Computer, click Manage, select Disk Management, then look for the drive in the lower right pane.

You'll probably need to delete/recreate a partition on the drive, then format the partition.

It is also possible that the drive is locked, like XBox's, though not sure. From what I have read, you cannot take out the Xbox harddrive and use it in a PC, because you cannot reformat it.
