I emailed them asking them if they reduce fees for people who own their own cable modem and they said: "Not at this time".
Personally, I think it's BS to charge customers part of that $50/month for "renting a cable modem from Time Warner/AOL" when
customers have the means and opportunity to buy their own cable modems. I'm pretty sure I've heard other cable companies
allow it, so why not Roadrunner? Maybe because they don't want to deal with customers who break their own cable modems?
Why not just have the customers sign a waiver if they use their own modem, then? Why am I thinking this? Because today
Roadrunner replaced my inconsistent (flaky) yet fast 3Com cable modem with a noticable slower RCA model.
