Why won't my Moto G (2013) update to Android 5?

Hi.

I've been wait for the update to show up on my Moto G (2013) for a while, but it hasn't. If I manually check for updates, it tells me the system is up to date (4.4.4).

Why is that? I read online that Android 5 is already available for the Moto G 2013. Am I doing something wrong? Or am I overlooking some detail?

Thanks for the help!

Thanks for the help. I don't have a "model name" entry on my settings > about phone. I do have a "model number", it reads "Moto G" (derp), and I have a Build number, but it's not the model name, it's a a weird string and I don't know if it's personally identifiable so I'm unconfortable giving it out (it's definitely no the model name).

Thanks for point me to the right forum though. I searched for something motorolla related, but I didn't find anything. Thanks again.

Unless they started pushing 5.02 to that phone you may want to avoid 5.01.
The memory leak issue with limited memory will mean that apps would often force close including the launcher. The camera app takes forever to open and would take limited pics(2) before force closing also.

My girlfriend now hates her phone. I did tell her to do a wipe to see if it helps things but she refuses though.

They've been kinda slow with this update as it isn't rolled out to all models/markets yet. But I wouldn't get too excited. 4.4.4 is rock solid stable and L really doesn't bring anything new aside from a new design and in fact makes some things worse. And since anyone can get the material design apps there isn't much of a reason to get antsy. Just set back and wait.

From the official Motorola boards, it was posted on Jan. 16th...

Today's Lollipop 5.0.2 rollout for Moto G (1st Gen & 2nd Gen): this is a soak test for India, Brazil & the U.S. If the performance data looks good after several days, then we'll roll out more widely. This is why some may see 'up to date' when checking - it is not yet exposed to the whole user population.

Note: Moto G (1st Gen) users need to ensure that they have the latest Motorola Updates Services from the Play Store. If you see an update available, please install it - otherwise you will not see the future Lollipop upgrade notification. This is not necessary for Moto G (2nd Gen).

Thank you Keith! That's enlightening.

Also, the performance issues kind of made me feel alright with not having the update yet. I certainly don't want the new version if it's worse at the moment. Updating for the sake of updating is not my thing.

Who is your provider with your Moto G? Is it a CDMA only version of the phone?

I just got a CDMA 1st Gen Moto G for use with Page Plus on Verizon's network and I'm a little concerned about the strength of the connection that I have at home. Usually shows just or or two bars. I saw three once. Previously I had a Verizon account that I used for 10 years at home with no real problems. So far, it seems to be working OK. Haven't had any dropped calls, but...
