Why won't my BIOS flash?

I have an Abit kg7 mobo with the stock bios. I've never had any problems with it, so there has never been a reason to update the bios. I recently purchased an XP2000+ thinking it would just drop in and go. That's not the case. The stock bios will only recognize up to a 1900+. I tried to update, and it gets to the point where you are supposed to enter the file name for the bios, and it just locks up. I've tried to clearing all bios info to defaults with no luck. Anyone ever seen this behavior? Any suggestions?

Don't know the answer to your question, but if you can't find one.

Your only way around this is to order a new bios chip or get your existing chip re-flash ..
look at my sig for details or PM me.

I am having this same exact problem, but on a different board. I have an A7N8X Deluxe 2.0 and it does the same thing. I wanted to flash so that my 2400+ mobile was recognized properly. What is this Uniflash??

Thanks!

Check for Write Protect option in BIOS or jumper on the board. If you use NERO Burning Rom, I created a CD image that you can try:

BIOS Flash Bootable CD image

It contains the latest BIOS (version DS), flash executable, and will automatically update the BIOS for you. Open NERO, cancel out of any Wizards, select 'burn image' from the File Menu, and provide the image file. After burning the CD, it will appear blank, because all the files are incorporated into the boot image of the CD. Enter BIOS and set the BOOT sequence to CD, then restart and watch the show.

After the flash completes, exit and restart. Enter BIOS and load Setup Defaults, then customize your BIOS options to taste. Don't forget to set Boot Sequence back to HDD (and remove the CD), else you'll flash the BIOS again. :p

I checked out Uniflash, but it does not officially support nForce2 boards. I did find another utility though, and this beauty is a jem. It's called Winflash (for Award BIOS only) and it works great! I was able to flash my BIOS several times within Windows XP. I ended up downloading it here . Point it to your bin file and flash away. Reboot and your all set. You can even set options to clear CMOS. I was able to flash mine after dozens of attempts in DOS. Good Luck!
