I use a GFD and have set the multiplier to 8,5 and the vCore to 1,85.
I am using a GlobalWin VOS32 cooler.
FSB is at 100 MHz DDR...
If i change the MP to 9,0 my PC boots but upon entering Windows i get BSODs and other nasty errors :)
I don't know WHY!!!
i think that my CPU should easily be able to handle 900Mhz......

i tried everything imaginable
to no avail
the farthest i can go is 880Mhz but only if i set the FSB to 110 and the MP back to 8

PLEASE HELP ME
;)
any advice would be highly appreciated

[edit]PS: I am new to this board ( i have been lurkin for quite some time tho') and like to say HELLO EVERYBODY
*gg*

und für alle deutschsprechenden
HAllo allezusammen!
[/edit]
another edit.......I think i have posted in the wrong forum
sorry :(

In order for my 750 to run 1ghz stable, I had to up the voltage to 2.00v.
Also I had to set my chache divider to 1/3 rather than 2/5.

hope that helps

Try turning the L2 cache OFF in your bios first.

If you can reach 900 no prob then you'll know it's your cache that needs to be modified to 1/3.

Post your results... look over at overclockers.com to see what the other guys are doing to Athlon 800s... I am looking forward to running my Athlon600 to 800 with the Ninjamicro GFD... Will keep my computer viable for another 6 months easy...

Hey Burned...
your gonna have to change the cache to 1/2...if your mobo allows it, change it in the bios otherwise your gonna have to get a cache changing program like mathlon...I have a copy and can email it to you if you like...just ask!!!
I doubt your gonna have to take the voltage up to 2.0, but somewhere close to that.

with a Vos cooler, I would not push the voltage pas 1.9 volts
too much heat for the cooler

i tried to overclock it with vCore @ 2 volts
to no avail
it simply wont run 900Mhz or above
i think the limit of my (crappy) CPU is 880Mhz....

I do have a prog. to set the L2 divider
it's called SysID, it's like WCPUID + the cache divider settings ( 1/2, 1/3 & 2/5).
still...my CPU seems not capable of running at speeds that 'high'

maybe it's because of the mobo?
I have a Bio-Star M7MKE....

You've got it the wrong way round. You must set the cache divider lower before you overclock. AMD was eventually shipping 1/3 cache athlons. It went from 1/2 to 2/5 to 1/3. Remember, these cache chips are slower and cheaper than the core CPU, and separate. I can't believe you don't have a way in the BIOS or GFD that doesn't let you set the cache divider, that would be SOOO useless...

2.0 may seem like alot, but the CPU has been running like this for almost 1year now using an alpha p7125 with absolutely no probs. Even if it died today, I still got more than I paid for, especially considering the low prices of 1GHZ cpus today.....BTW my temp is 39C idle and roughly 45c under load.

Run with the cache turned off...this will tell you whether its the CPU or the cache chips.

What kind of GFD is it?

I got my 550 to 864 stable at 1.85 volts. It was running pretty damn hot though. I don't have the cooling necessary to run it that fast, but 770 is no problem.

GFD,s do not have a way to change the cache divider. It needs to be 1/3 to get to 900. You have to have the cache soldered or some mobos, not many, allowed the divider to be changed. Quite a few programs can change the cache divider, think you have to know the brand of your cache chips. You'll need the one that runs from the DOS prompt as you won't get to Windows.
