Why will downloading through IE yield corrupted downloads?

That used to happen to me when I had dial-up. But with broadband, none of my downloads have been corrupted. Maybe it has to do with your connection?

I just downloaded the Mandrake Linux 8.1 iso files (3 648 MB files), using IE6, from the ftp server in New Mexico listed on Mandrake.com. I ran the md5 checksum app, and there were no errors. I figure if there would be errors, they would've happened during that like 15 hour download.

I'm downloading another 3 iso's of Slackware tonight. I don't expect any errors, but will run the crc check anyways.

In case you're wondering, I wanna check out Linux, and I'm about to move away from this house and DSL connection, so I'm downloading while I can.

You downloaded 15 hours worth of stuff in IE which has no restart support? :Q

18hrs 46 min into the download (ftp.edisontel.it slowed down a bunch after the 1st two files completed) for slackware, and still going... I was thinking about getting a download manager, but I already began this download late last night. Any suggestions? I'm running winXP here, and want to avoid any more spyware than I already have.
